Wichita Homeschool of Wichita, Kan., won out over 29 other teams from five states in the BEST Award category in the Frontier Trails BEST Regional Robotics Competition held Nov. 4 at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, taking the top honors for the second year in a row.

This September two Girone children left Christ the Teacher School in Glasgow to start classes in their own home in Bear, where their mom is the teacher.

Member families with fewer than six students enrolled in their private school received copies of a letter from the Morongo Unified School District. The letter alarmed some of our members. It was from the Coordinator of Child Welfare and Attendance. The letter references each parents’ filing of a Private School Affidavit to establish a private school in their homes. The letter also includes a summary of the law pursuant to Education Code §48222 and §33190.

Earlier this school year, the Hernandez* family contacted the public school superintendent of Maricopa County to notify officials that their son had graduated from high school and was no longer being homeschooled. About a week later the family received a letter from the homeschool coordinator along with a homeschool withdrawal form.
